<i>Antigone Power</i>: una straniera alle frontiere dell’Europa

In many respects, classics may be considered as a language, that was aptly used to legitimate the imperialist exploitation of white people over so called “Third World countries”. My paper is aimed at understanding whether and which extent Greco-Roman Antiquity such can become tool for telling submerged history bringing forth its non hegemonic subjects. I will take into consideration collective experience conducted by theatre company in south Italy during summer 2018. Through workshop involving immigrant city Palermo, Ali Farah, Somali-Italian writer, staged an experimental rewriting Sophocles’ Antigone , starts from personal stories migration through Mediterranean sea. Grounding my analysis comparison between Antigone’s defiance power crossing borders, underline revolutionary message this myth contemporary Fortress Europe delivers.
